Research

At Ayada Leads, we conduct community-driven research that amplifies the voices and experiences of the African diaspora. Our studies explore urgent issues at the intersection of identity, health, safety, and economic opportunity. Projects like Fear of Crime among Somali Diaspora Women shine a light on how perceptions of safety shape daily life and community engagement, while understanding the pay gap for Somali women investigates persistent economic disparities to inform policies and programs that promote equity.

We believe meaningful solutions start with evidence rooted in lived experiences. Our research, including Community-Based Assessment: Overcoming the Opioid Crisis in the Somali Community, combines rigorous data collection with culturally responsive methods to address complex challenges. Through this work, Ayada Leads strives to empower Somali communities and advance justice, health, and prosperity for all. Read more about each of our research projects and their impact below.
